Medicare Part A

Welcome to My Insurance Advisor Group’s page on Medicare Part A! Our goal is to provide you with a clear understanding of what Medicare Part A is, how it works, and what it covers. We hope this information will help you make informed decisions about your healthcare coverage.

What is Medicare Part A?

Medicare Part A is a component of the federal health insurance program for people who are 65 years of age or older, or those who have certain disabilities or chronic conditions. It covers hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some home health care services.

How Does Medicare Part A Work?

Medicare Part A is funded by payroll taxes paid by workers and their employers. If you have paid into the system for at least 10 years, you are eligible for Medicare Part A without any premiums.

If you are not eligible for premium-free Medicare Part A, you may still be able to enroll by paying a monthly premium. It’s important to note that Medicare Part A is different from Medicare Part B, which covers doctor visits and other medical services.

What Does Medicare Part A Cover?

Medicare Part A covers a range of services, including:

  1. Inpatient hospital care: Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital care, which includes services like room and board, nursing care, and meals.

  2. Skilled nursing facility care: If you need skilled nursing care in a facility, Medicare Part A may cover the cost of your care for up to 100 days.

  3. Hospice care: If you have a terminal illness and a life expectancy of six months or less, Medicare Part A may cover the cost of hospice care.

  4. Home health care: Medicare Part A may cover the cost of home health care services if you need skilled nursing care or therapy.
